About the Role

Magro and Sons Steel of NJ is a growing structural steel fabrication and erection company serving industrial, commercial, and residential projects across New Jersey and the surrounding region. We're looking for a skilled Ironworker to join our crew fabricating and erecting structural and miscellaneous steel.

This is a full-time position with steady work and a variety of projects, from industrial and commercial buildings to custom residential steel. If you take pride in precise work, know your way around a steel job, and can work safely at heights and as part of a tight crew, we want to talk to you.

What You'll Be Doing

• Erecting structural steel — columns, beams, joists, decking, and connections
• Installing miscellaneous steel such as stairs, railings, lintels, supports, and platforms
• Shop fabrication: layout, cutting, fitting, drilling, and welding steel members
• Rigging, hoisting, and setting steel with cranes and lifts
• Bolting up, plumbing, and aligning steel to plans and specifications
• Reading and working from shop drawings and erection plans
• Working on a variety of job types: industrial, commercial, and residential
• Maintaining a safe, organized work site and following all safety requirements

What We're Looking For

• 3+ years of ironworking experience (structural and/or miscellaneous steel erection)
• Comfortable working at heights and in varying weather conditions
• Welding experience (certified welder preferred)
• Ability to read shop drawings and work from plans
• Rigging and signaling experience a plus
• OSHA 10/30 certification preferred
• Valid driver's license required — you'll be traveling to job sites
• Own basic hand tools; specialty equipment and PPE guidance provided
• Reliable, safety-minded, and able to work well in a crew

Compensation & Schedule

• Full-time, Monday–Friday (overtime available based on project schedule)

• Loading, unloading, and moving materials and equipment on and off job sites

• Assisting with concrete and masonry repair work
• Operating basic hand tools and, with training, power tools
• Working as part of a crew and following direction from the foreman/crew lead

About the Role

Magro and Sons Steel of NJ is seeking a Structural Steel Estimator to join our team.

The ideal candidate should be detail-oriented, organized, willing to learn, and comfortable working with plans, measurements, pricing, labor hours, and project documentation. Prior experience in steel estimating is required. This is a part-time position consisting of approximately 24 hours per week.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Reviewing drawings, plans, and project specifications
• Preparing takeoffs for structural steel projects
• Calculating material quantities, labor requirements, and estimated man-hours for projects
• Preparing estimates, quotes, and bid documents
• Communicating with vendors, suppliers, contractors, and internal staff
• Tracking pricing, material costs, labor costs, and project details
• Assisting with follow-ups on submitted bids
• Maintaining organized records of estimates and job files

Qualifications

• Structural steel, construction, welding, fabrication, or estimating experience is required
• Ability to read construction drawings
• Ability to calculate material quantities, labor hours, and project man-hours
• Strong attention to detail
• Good math, communication, and organizational skills
